My Biggest Competition Yet

Hi, my name is Deena and I am competitive. It’s just a little problem. Not to the point of obnoxious screaming matches or fist fights over a bad call type competitive. But the type of competitive that losing a family cornhole tournament makes me want to keep playing and playing and playing until I win. Or simply not playing a game anymore because I am not good at it. Why play if I don’t have a chance to win? Just for the fun of it? HA, that’s lame! I am pretty good at covering it up with a silly joke […]

I was the Best Parent Ever!… Before I had Kids.

Before I had any children I thought I knew pretty much everything about having kids. I would look at other people raising children and mentally judge them all the time. I would think things like: “How many times are they going to give in to that whining kid?” “Wow, that parent has no control.” “Seriously, my kid will never act like that!” I was sure I was so good at parenting. So much better than these parents I would see “giving in” to their children. I mean what did they know that I didn’t? It really couldn’t be that difficult? […]

Pumpkin Patch Perfection

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. But just to be clear, I am NOT all about the pumpkin spice, sorry, I just can’t do it. I am however, all about the colors, the sweaters, the smells, and the pumpkin patches! Every year I have this idea that we are going to go to the pumpkin patch and it’s going to be magical. It’s the kickoff to the holiday season and the boys get so excited for it. And every year I think this is the perfect opportunity for some good photos. Take the boys out, let […]

3 Reasons you should NOT blog while the kids are home!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin I am still pretty new to this whole blogging thing but there is one thing I have learned pretty quick, and that is to NOT blog while the kids are home! I am a stay at home mom of three boys, ages 3, 5 and 7. Right now two of the three go to school full time and that is usually when I try to get most of my blogging done. But that doesn’t always happen plus I still have one at home so I have to be strategic. But occasionally I have had to […]

Mommy vs. “Lovie”: The Battle Continues

” I AM SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW I SERIOUSLY WANT TO SCREAM!” I said to my three boys, in a screaming-type voice. Definitely NOT my mom of the year moment. What did they do you might be wondering. Break a window, break a T.V., break a bone, break into a house? Worse. One of them lost Georgie, AGAIN. No no don’t worry, it’s not a live pet. It’s just a lovie. A silly little blanket with a monkey head attached that goes by the name of Georgie. Let me explain. When I was pregnant with my first son, I had received […]

Half Birthday Dates with Dad

Half birthday? What’s a half birthday and who celebrates those? Well, we do! And actually this week is Lincoln’s half birthday so I thought I would share what we do on half birthdays here in the Welch house. This is a new tradition that my husband and I started for our own family a few years ago. From the time we had our first son we knew we wanted to be intentional about spending one-on-one time with him. This became more important after sons number two and three arrived. When you have multiple kids it is easy to forget […]

Are we home yet?

“So where are you from?” Simple question right? We hear it all the time in our daily conversations and its one of the first things we ask when meeting someone new and most of the time we are only asking out of habit. Do we really even care where this person is from? And are they asking where I am from or where I call home? Cause that is different right? But let me pause right there for a second. I am an over-thinker, if that is even a word. Things that should be so simple I tend to wrestle […]

Back to School

Dear Back-to-School Day, This year you snuck up on me quicker than I wanted but also went mostly smoother than I anticipated. Why is it that once school starts our kids seem to grow up faster and the time seems to fly by quicker? Anybody else or is that just me? Anyway, this year I had two heading to all day elementary school. It will be nice to have them both on the same schedule for a year as opposed to last year when Lincoln was in preschool and I felt like a taxi cab driver more than a mom […]

Meet Keaton

Keaton is 7 years old and counting down the days until he can drive. Slow down kid! He wants so badly to be able to go places and do things on his own. I love his confidence, but am dreading the fact that he is already wanting to fly the nest. He is all about sports, especially football. He started playing tackle football when he was five. But it wasn’t until a few games into his first season that he actually grew any interest in handling the football. “I just want to tackle people mom.” Now three seasons in and […]

Meet Lincoln

Mr. Lincoln is 5 years old. He is our fire and ice boy and he has been that way since birth. You get all or nothing with this guy and that is one of the things I love most about him. He doesn’t do anything half way, once he commits (and that definitely has to be his decision to commit mind you, don’t even make me talk about potty training this kid) then there is no backing down. He loves hard and battles hard but thankfully he also has the sweetest most tender heart. This kid feels hard, and even […]
