Back to School Breakfast Burritos

Ok so really breakfast burritos are good ANYTIME, am I right?! But they are especially good for that first week of back to school. When that alarm goes off before the sun is even up, I am going to be happy that I have a yummy, protein packed, quick breakfast ready for my boys on their first day back. And the whole first week for that matter! It’s my back to school tradition, I always make up a ton of these burritos and pop them in the freezer for quick breakfasts to help us get back into our routine. It’s […]

A lesson from Ruth

Do you ever have those moments when the same story or bible verse or song keeps popping up in your life and no matter how much you try to ignore it, you can’t deny that God is trying to get through to you? I might not always know what He is attempting to tell me, but at least I know to try and listen. For me lately it has been the story of Ruth from the bible. She just seems to keep popping up in my life and I am not quite sure why. One of my friends and I […]

My Biggest Competition Yet

Hi, my name is Deena and I am competitive. It’s just a little problem. Not to the point of obnoxious screaming matches or fist fights over a bad call type competitive. But the type of competitive that losing a family cornhole tournament makes me want to keep playing and playing and playing until I win. Or simply not playing a game anymore because I am not good at it. Why play if I don’t have a chance to win? Just for the fun of it? HA, that’s lame! I am pretty good at covering it up with a silly joke […]

Living in my Best Life

“Mom, Lincoln said he wants to go on a date with you!” I turned and looked at my 5 (almost 6) year old son and a bashful little smile spread across his face. “You want to go on a date with mom huh? Let’s do it buddy!” He then ran up and gave me a huge hug. (Okay pause here for just one second. How stinkin’ cute is it that my two boys were having a giddy little conversation about taking their mom on a date? Oh my mama heart just about burst! Sorry I had to brag for just […]

Pep Talk

Pep talks are usually my husband’s thing. He is great at encouraging and building up our boys before and during games. I am usually more concerned that they have the right socks and if they remembered their belt, oh and did someone grab that helmet? But right now I am talking about a different type of pep talk, and it is directed at myself. Last week a friend of mine sent me a message saying she had quit her job and was officially starting her journey as a stay at home mom. She knew I was a stay at home […]

How to Make Profile Silhouettes Using a Cricut

I have always loved how those profile silhouettes could be so simple looking yet capture the unique details of a child. I have always wanted to get them made of my three boys but just hadn’t gotten around to it. Recently I purchased a Cricut Explore Air and I have been trying to branch out and see what else I could do with it besides making cute labels.  I mean you can really only label so much right? Once I started considering making a label for the “label maker” I knew I needed help! A change of pace, a new […]

I’ve Caught the Hobby Bug

I don’t know if it’s just the season of life I am in now that I have two kids in school full time and only one at home during the day or the fact that maybe I have spent too much time scrolling and scrolling and scrolling on Pinterest, seriously does it ever stop scrolling? But either way, I have caught the hobby bug. It started when I got a new camera almost two years ago. I wanted to learn how to take some decent pictures of my boys and have something capable to capture sports shots. So I got […]

New Year Goal: 2018

So I have this theory for why every year seems to go by quicker and quicker. With every year that passes our total years lived increases making each individual year a smaller and smaller percentage of our lives, therefore making it seem shorter. Make sense? For example, when we are ten years old a single year is 10% of our lives, but for a 90 year old, 1 year is only 1.1% of their life. So in a way we can say the years are in fact getting shorter, if my math is correct. Don’t burst my bubble here, It […]

I was the Best Parent Ever!… Before I had Kids.

Before I had any children I thought I knew pretty much everything about having kids. I would look at other people raising children and mentally judge them all the time. I would think things like: “How many times are they going to give in to that whining kid?” “Wow, that parent has no control.” “Seriously, my kid will never act like that!” I was sure I was so good at parenting. So much better than these parents I would see “giving in” to their children. I mean what did they know that I didn’t? It really couldn’t be that difficult? […]

Is it a “Calling”?

Have you ever heard someone say they were “called” to do something? Or that God had placed a “Calling” on their heart? Being a Christian, going to church, and being around other Christians, this is something I have heard many times. If you aren’t a Christian you still might be familiar with this type of talk, but if you aren’t I bet you can still relate to feeling a “yearning” or “calling” on your life. Or maybe you haven’t felt anything like that. Maybe you are a Christian and you know exactly what I am talking about and you still […]
